I just got invited to give a talk on my current research in Paris at the École Polytechnique. Date to be arranged, but it looks likely to be happening sometime within the next couple of months.

I did French at school, but that was a *loooong* time ago. I'd probably get up to speed OK if I hit the language tapes quite heavily...

I'll be lecturing in English, though, so it's not quite the case that I'd need to suddenly become fluent inside the next couple of weeks! ;-)

Hee hee. I'm sure I'll manage to make an idiot of myself quite effectively. French has quite a collection of innocuous phrases that seem capable of either getting you beaten up, propositioned or regarded as the word's greatest comedienne...
