Hi all,
I have a couple of friends staying with me (Caroline and 15-year-old son Daniel). They want to make their way up from Mountain View to SF, ideally to visit Fishermans Wharf for the, er, wharfing, or whatever it is they do there.
What's the best combination of Caltrain/BART/Bus/whatever to get them there and back, remembering that they don't know the city, so simplicity is favoured over speed.
Thank you in advance... :-)

Date: 2006-08-08 04:43 am (UTC)If busses aren't acceptable, I'd say Caltrain to 4th and King, Muni N-line to the ferry building, and the F-line to Fisherman's Wharf.

Date: 2006-08-08 07:58 am (UTC)1) Walk to fisherman's wharf. It's probably 3 or 4 miles, all flat, no navigational decisions to make (follow the edge of the city and don't fall into the bay).
2) Go to Market & Embarcadero (walking or, N Judah; roughly 1 mile) and take the F train up the Embarcadero to fisherman's wharf.
3) Go to Powell St (walk up 4th and jog left a half block on Market or take the N Judah), and get on the Cable Car which is touristy. One line that stops there goes straight to Fisherman's Wharf (via North Beach) and the other goes a few blocks west to the Aquatic Park (which is also nice).
Of course they can take different routs for getting there and getting back.
