Thanks to everyone who responded to my previous post, in which I asked for Wiki recommendations. I have gone for MediaWiki, on recommendation of several people. I already have it up and running here. I do need to do a bit more layout tweaking and also, er, actually write a bit more content, but it's already done the job as regards giving me somewhere to put my list of papers and their associated download links.

I'm pretty impressed actually -- not bad for an afternoon and an evening's work.

Oh, I succumbed to pressure (from [livejournal.com profile] doseybat, who else) to include a photo of myself. OK, so here it is:

It's actually a photo that [livejournal.com profile] doseybat took of me about a year ago.

Lovely! Thank you. I always prefer knowing what my correspondents look like...:)

I still think my usual icon is a better likeness...

I say that about mine, but people disagree with me. The gits.

I like the Ready-Brek* halo effect.

*Does anyone else here remember that? Very nineteen-seventies advert for a kind of quick porridge, sends the kids out to school in the mornings sorrounded by this eerie glow. Also seen on Not The Nine o'Clock News as 'Windscale Flakes'.

I'm sure that was still going in the eighties, or was reprised in the nineties or something. I remember it, anyway. I don't remember "Windscale Flakes", though.

Nice photo. Mmm, you know, it occurs to me you could make an LJ icon out of it if you thresholded it into a silhouette. I can't post piccies from here, but having a play around, there's some interesting possibilities with a threshold value of between 165 and 195, depending on your taste.

In Mediawiki, you use [[brackets]] for links ... not CamelCase!!

That is a good picture. [ And I shall quash the urge to quote the bit from Importance of Being Earnest about there being definite social possibilities to Cecily's profile. ]
