I grabbed a pic of this old couple from quite a distance away. They were sitting waiting for the ferry, not very contently it seems! Finishing was relatively complex. I desaturated the image, then made multiple layer copies in Photoshop and adjusted the contrast and brightness separately in each layer, so each element in the shot looked the way I wanted it. Then I painted layer masks by hand to bring everything together.

Relatively simple, this one. I think I just took the green channel because I wanted to lighten the grass. Other than that, nothing fancy.

This is a panorama stitched together in Photoshop. The web version doesn't do much for it -- the original is something like 6000 pixels across the horizontal, so it looks startlingly sharp.

abbey.jpg

Part of the abbey. This was yet another panorama, this time in three horizontal stripes, assembled in Photoshop. As I remember, I used AE lock to make sure that the components matched. I forgot that with the ferry, which meant a lot of tweaking in Photoshop, whereas this one just worked.

This one was a lot more complex than it looks. The image was taken in three stripes because it was impossible to get a good enough vantage point, and my camera can't get much wider than about a 35mm equivalent. The stripes were assembled in photoshop, hand corrected and retouched a little, then perspective corrected as a whole. So far, this was all in the original colour. The B&W image was created with my usual technique of splitting into layers and setting contrast and brightness separately for each element.

Just a nice snap. Nothing special.

And, finally...

An artist should draw what he or she sees. This is what I saw. My Eyes!

More to come shortly...

Actually, the abbey is *huge*, this is just a tiny part of it, but I thought it looked nice so here it is!
