I am OK

I'm currently at the Penguin house in Purley. I just heard about what happened after I got off the plane and went through security, when a very worried American woman asked if I had a mobile she could borrow to contact her daughter to make sure she was OK. I chose not to attempt to go through or around London, so I applied for temporary refugee status at [livejournal.com profile] panzerpenguin's.

I don't know how long I'll be here, but it would seem unlikely that I'll be home any time soon, given the mess that is being reported on Sky News right now.

[livejournal.com profile] doseybat is also OK, and is currently in Southgate.

You were right to tell me to come here, I think. I wasn't really thinking clearly about it at the time.

Another odd thing happened this morning. An old man was having serious problems on an escalator at the airport in Marseille -- he appeared to have his sleeve jammed under the hand rail, which had stopped moving, and he'd quite obviously been stuck there for some time, walking backwards as the stairs kept moving upwards. I suspect that he didn't speak French or English. People were just walking past him assuming he was mad. I just went up the escalator and pushed the emergency stop button, at which point he unhooked himself and was obviously OK. Just a minor thing, but I wanted to say something about it.

No. It has a network card. Just set it up and plug it into the long network cable coming out of the router that I was using last week with my laptop. Chances are it'll just start up and work, without you needing to do anything fancy.

As usual after incidents like this everybody is running around in full panic mode. So everything is likely to be broken due to fuckwits clogging it up. I just saw someone buying 20 loaves of bread incase a civil war started.

Hmm...

At least they could amuse themselves looking at 18 loaves of mouldy bread, just when the civil war is properly getting into full swing...
