Just signed up for the pool team

Yes, pool, not polo. Go me. :)
I looked longingly at the signup lists for more active pursuits, but arthritis fears stopped play. I think someone had their eye on me for women's rugby (by size alone I'd be frightening!), but I avoided it. Still, pool is better than nothing. I might not be up to competetive standard, but I did manage to win a 3 against 1 game the other day against
doseybat,
galliana and
panzerpenguin. :-) I should say that most of them needed to have the rules explained from scratch, so my victory, enjoyable as it was, does need to be seen in some kind of perspective.

Date: 2003-10-06 05:12 pm (UTC)(Mumble mumble come to my pub and play pool with me. And doseybat bring me my Preacher back because my new housemate wants to read it - he's already read the Ennis and Dillon episodes of Hellblazer...)

Date: 2003-10-07 12:19 am (UTC)Eddies does have a free pool table, but it is in dire need of servicing. To say that it isn't level wood be an understatement -- listing like a Spanish galleon would be closer. The cloth is way past its sell-by date too. I don't suppose you happen to know someone in Cam who fixes pool tables relatively cheaply? I'm thinking of chivvying the CR comittee to put its metaphorical hands in its pocket.

Date: 2003-10-07 09:20 am (UTC)I thought "dire need of servicing" was the default state for most pool tables? It certainly is for ours - you can play a shot along a cushion, and watch the ball bounce off the same cushion more than once...
