I'm currently poorly sick. Came down with something flulike last weekend, which turned into a nasty chest infection (whilst being bad enough in its own right). Coughed continuously for several days and nights, got hardly any sleep. Been having sleep deprivation hallucinations today. Now have a different anti-cough drug, so I can actually sleep at last. I'm also on antibiotcs, which have cleared up the chest infection but are probably going to continue to make me feel grotty for the next few days -- those things always do.
Don't expect much out of me before next week!
There's no PhD-related news at this time, other than Prof. Arvind from MIT confirming a visit to the computer lab in August, to which I'm invited also.
Penguin, Bat, Sarah and Matt have been very nice, and have been feeding me and keeping me company on and off whilst I've mostly been stuck in bed all day. So thank you from me to everyone concerned, and apologies for being occasionally grumpy through (extreme) lack of sleep.

Date: 2003-06-30 03:32 am (UTC)I hallucinated Hooches a couple of times. I thought I saw him from the corner of my eye, then looked around and found him not to be there. I also thought I saw people a few times in similar circumstances, then found it just to be my visual system having misinterpreted a random collection of stuff in vaguely the right orientation.
I've had this as a consequence of sleep deprivation a few times. It's not as impressive as the kinds of thing some people report on taking hallucinogenic drugs, it's probably better described as tired visual systems not really doing their usually good job of figuring out what one happens to be looking at.
