Death of LaTeX books...
There was a recent conversation about recovery of books from dubious contamination recently on
doseybat's LiveJournal, during which I mentioned that several of my previous LaTeX books bought it, one of which quite disgustingly at the hands of a particularly malicious leaky pineapple juice carton.
Well, a certain person was sitting at my desk late last night, doing LJ and munching Halloumi cheese. Said cheese is slightly unusual, in that it seems to be cured in brine after it has been matured normally, so it tends to weep salty liquid especially when warm.
Ok, guess where my LaTeX book was, relative to the uneaten remnants overnight.
Go on, guess.
It survived, luckily, because most of the liquid ended up on my (second best) skirt instead.
The book seems OK, and is currently taking an extended restorative break on my shelf in order to better get over its recent trauma.

i did not necessarily mean it quite like that..
what i meant was, if you bought more nice cheese more often, i would have more practice eating it carefully, and your books would remain perfectly intact. there.
