Adventures in Vista land

Well, I persevered. I now have Vista Ultimate up and running on my dual-core Athlon box. I have to admit, though the installation and configuration has been a Major Pain in the Arse, the new interface is seriously growing on me. If I overlook the fact that it took me about 15 attempts to install the Wacom lntuos3 drivers I have to say that do like the fact that I now have access to the full Tablet PC functionality. In fact, this post was composed 100% without touching a keyboard, entirely through handwriting recognition.

I can't see anyone choosing to write the Next Great Novel this way, but it definitely works. It will probably mean being able to drive Illustrator directly from the pen without having to swap back and forth (which is a pain if you have a large tablet, as I do).

I fixed the crashing problem by re-flashing the motherboard's BIOS. Since then, the machine has been pretty much rock-solid. New toy. I shall have to report progress as it happens.
