Normal service (just about) resumed...
Oct. 23rd, 2003 10:36 amI've not posted much in a while -- this has partly been due to a lot of teaching, and partly due to a bout of food poisoning that just didn't want to go away. I started feeling weird on Sunday -- sick and feverish. I got very cold, partly because the heating wasn't working properly in my college room and partly probably as a consequence of wearing clothes that weren't really warm enough for the weather. By Monday, I was in a bit of a state -- I couldn't keep liquids inside myself, so I got very dehydrated. Tuesday was more of the same, but worse. On Wednesday, I remembered I had some loperamide and took 4mg, which immediately stopped the dehydration, so I felt progressively better throughout the day. As of this morning, the dehydration headache has gone, I can think properly, so I'm looking forward to my first properly productive day this week.
Despite being ill, I somehow still managed to meet all my teaching commitments. It wasn't easy -- all I wanted to do was curl up in bed, but I still managed three supervisions on Monday, an afternoon demonstrating in the ECAD labs on Tuesday, and another supervision yesterday. Yesterday's was OK, I was feeling mostly OK by then, but it overran considerably -- the group needed extra help, and were also falling behind in the labs, so I did an extra long supervision then did an impromptu extra hour on their lab work (pretty much what I'd have done if I was demonstrating).
I should probably do some of the things I've not gotten around to or haven't been able to do, e.g. my clothes washing, going to the bank, etc., but I think I'll probably leave that until tomorrow. Getting some work done is probably the best thing right now.
