Morning Bleuurgh...
Jul. 29th, 2003 09:02 amThe telephony server I'm working on keeled over last night. I was planning a late night finishing everything and testing it session, but for some reason, although it was answering the phone, all I got was silence and the code that plays tho prompts didn't get called. Grrrrr... Probably Intel's crappy telephony card throwing a wobbly again.
No more Bat news really. She's working her way through the red tape. It will take time, but she will be back. I figured out how she could apply for British citizenship even if she's still stuck there, so I'm going to get the forms and take them with me. This is a bit of a last resort -- it could take months, but it would be better than nothing.
I spoke to her last night. She's having her ups and downs, but she's coping, I think. Assumng i get my visa sorted out OK, I'll be going to see her next week. I'll have to be back before the 15th, though, because Prof Arvind from MIT is going to be visiting the computer lab. Since they want to collaborate on my PhD project in some way, I'd better be there.
I'm liking the Touchstream. A lot. It is really good for hacking code. I think I'm losing my ability to use a normal keboard, though -- I was fixing something for Penguin yesterday, and only a few minutes of his MS natural keyboard had my wrists hurting. It is the first time I've been able to functionally use a PC whlst lying in bed. Mmmmmm... Nice...

I should get the paperwork in the next few days, but it is all in order at their end. I think it was significantly delayed by BOGS taking forever to pass on the relevant paperwork.
And, it looks like they will let me take my car, even though in may be a while before the paperwork is formalised for that.
Yeeha. It's good to have something to cheer me up after the goings on of the last few days.

Ibuprofen...
Jul. 29th, 2003 10:41 amIs good, but not a cure.
I did a bit of walking yesterday. Not a huge amount, just briefly around the supermarket. I felt great at the time physically, but I have a feeling that this was mostly the adrenaline associated with sorting things out for Bat.
Today, I'm hurty again. Hips and ankles again. I'll take some ibuprofen shortly, which should help, but isn't gong to totally sort out the problem.
