HOW TO GET HERE:

By train to either Purley or Purley Oaks, followed by a 10 minute walk or a 2 minute car ride (phone from a mobile when you get to the station if you want picking up. On foot from Purley Oaks, leave the station on the side with the car park, turn right and follow the road all the way down to the junction with London Road. There's a shop that sells Smart cars directly over the road - cross London road by the zebra crossing, then continue essentially in a straight line up Kingsdown Avenue. This is a steepish hill - you're going to be continuing nearly to the top. The Penguin house is on the right, just after a smallish green patch. From Purley, leave the station then follow the road to the right past the Job Centre and keep walking. After a few hundred yards it bears left through 90 degrees. Keep following it until you get to the junction with London Road. Turn right and continue along that road until you see Montpelier Road on the left. Follow Montpelier all the way - it ends in a T junction at which you should turn left. Follow the road to the next T junction and turn right. You're now on Kingsdown -- the Penguin house is about 100 yards on your left. Normally there will be one or two Volvos outside (a dark grey 960 and a sky blue 740).
By car: See the map linked above. There is plenty of on-street parking here, with no parking restrictions.
By bus: Theoretically possible, I understand. :)
By helicopter: Now you're just being silly.
THE PARTY OF THE FIRST PART
I'm having a party on Friday to celebrate my recently fully funded PhD. (Still bouncing around over that -- normal service may not be resumed for some time!)
Merriment and conversation are the main agenda items. Music, no doubt, will occur, possibly even live if I can manage to get the studio back into some kind of working shape by then. (It's currently somewhat trashed due to bits of it going for a trip to Slimelight last night).
Someone will be in the house all day for people who want to show up early, but I'm mainly planning on an evening thing. Semiconscious reanimation procedures during significant proportions of Saturday are likely. Depending on numbers, we can generally provide crash space and have a certain amount of bedding here, but check with me to see whether you should bring bedding with you.
I'll lay on food suitable for both veggies and non-veggies. Let me know if you have specific requirements (e.g. vegan/gluten free/lactose free/allergies etc.). Bring a bottle!
Partners/guests/decorative hangers-on/groupies also welcome. Ideally, let me know numbers ahead of time so I know how much food to prepare.
