Nice! The last thing is an Inukshuk.

That's what I said, ᐃᓄᒃᓱᒃ. :-)

Heh. My firefox is back to rendering all non-European characters as question marks again.

I also got a string of question marks for that caption.

Me too on the string of question marks.

The solar panel shot is really striking -- for the angle appropriate to facing the sun up there!

Indeed. It is also rather striking to see the angle that satellite dishes need to be mounted at in order to reach satellites in GSO -- they are nearly horizontal. This has some disadvantages because the beam cuts through a lot more atmosphere, so it's much more likely to be taken out by weather.

Stark and lovely.

Thanks. :-)

Nice! Is the Fortress a stone formation that kept standing while the surroundings were eroded? Looks a bit like the rocks in Monument Valley.

[identity profile] compilerbitch.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think so -- I think it's an ejecta block from the impact. I will ask, though -- there are for-real geologists here. :-)

Ah, that would make more sense. Please do.

[identity profile] compilerbitch.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I asked -- it is actually thought to be a Monument Valley-like eroded structure.

win ;o)
