Bat Alert...
Just got a call from bat in Moscow. It seems that her passport has been stolen, so she will be stuck there for at least another few weeks, while the authorities laboriously arrange for her visas to be reissued.
Waaaah! Sob! No Bat for ages and ages! Noooooooooooo!
I should be able to say more after I have had a chance to talk to her tonight.

Is she going to be stuck on her own (or rather, with her grandparents)?? She hates the place lots, and this must drive her up the wall.
Depending on how long 'a few weeks' is, if Val returns to russia before bat leaves, I'm sure she'll visit her and keep her from imploding.

Unfortunately, Bat lost BOTH her new one and her old one, so she has more problems. I have found a document here that proves her status, but it needs to be got to Moscow. There are plans for that in the offing.
I'm sure she will be able to stay with her grandparents, but we both know how she's going to react to that...
If it is going to be a while, I'll go and visit her myself. I checked into visas and air fares -- neither should be a problem.

I was going to write to Bat the other day to say I've moved to London; good thing I didn't, as I assume it would only lie around unread for ages. I was also going to ask whether she still has my copies of Preacher and Watchment, and if she does could I have them back? Tom, our Haringey pub manager would like to read them. (He's working his way through my Sandman at the moment.)
Good luck to her getting back here.

As for our books, they are here as best I am aware. I can probably arrange getting them to you. It probably will be a couple of days or so before I get the time, however, given what is going on.
