I search for a delicate way of expressing myself ... do you have an LJ filter group (that people could be excluded from) for the Twitter->LJ posts? I like reading your non-twitter posts, and it would be a shame for them to be lost in the noise.

If these posts all got tagged as "twitter", and if LJ actually implemented any useful functionality based on the features it provides, then you could filter out posts with that tag yourself. Or you could probably do it right now with some Greasemonkey hacking, but that might be a lot of effort :-)

There isn't a sensible alternative using LoudTwitter, so I've suspended the posts for now.

Actually, I was going to ask the same, not because I mind the posts, but if everyone starts doing it, it gets annoying. I have a nasty CSS hack that [livejournal.com profile] livredor uses to put her latest Twitter entry on her main LJ page, FWIW (doesn't work for IE or non-CSS browsers, alas).

Greasemonkey hacking wouldn't be that difficult, but I fear you'd need to do it separately for each style.

Hey hey! [livejournal.com profile] x_mass keeps trying to get us in the same coffeeshop sometime as she thinks we'd get on like a house on fire. What do you say? Fancy meeting and having a laugh? :)

Hi, yeah ok. I am heading to the Uk for 2 weeks at the end of next week. Evenings are mostly taken already, but I can probably do lunch? How about Thursday or Friday this week?

I hope you get comment emails, this being a month old -

A friend using LoudTwitter has discovered a way of putting Twitter -> LJ into a filter group. Apparently it's as simple as getting LoudTwitter to send twitters by email. This can then be pointed at Livejournal's post-by-email functionality, and can include LJ headers (such as security grouping), as in the documentation.

It's very important to get the formatting of the headers and PIN (if you put it in the message body) right, making sure it's in the "Before the twitters" section, with a blank line separating it from actual body text. Reply if you want me to find out any more details. Hope this helps!

Mwahahah! Stalking AJ :)

Also, there are options within livejournal where you can set the default options for things like userpic and security levels for all email posts that don't have any options specified within the actual post.

I'm guessing you want to do this so you can set up a 'twitters' friends-group, but have other groups you already use by setting the defaults under the lj post-by-email options.

Anyway, it works now, just don't forget to add the loudtwitter senders email address to your permitted list under the lj-email bit on lj. Loudtwitter tells you what that is when you set the email up.

:-)
