Apparently in California and another state (Michigan or Mineapolis I think) it is illegal to drive with anything that uses a suction mount on the windscreen.. Apparently nothing must be on the windscreen except from the mirror near the top middle of the windscreen, a 5x5 inches suare area bottom driver's side and 7x7 inches square the opposite side...
Just to be prepared in case you are stopped.. There are alternative mounts e.g.friction or dashboard that are allowed though..
